Our GPS Track...This is how Winning is DONE!

Our GPS Track...This is how Winning is DONE!

So after a hiatus from sailing, we went back out on the water.  It had been a while since we last raced Speedy.  We had some new crew on the boat, and some seasoned.  Bryan is back from Kuwait and he stepped on to race.  This was Lisa’s first time on Speedy, so she was learning how everything worked.

So Saturday night, we (JoJo, Bryan, and I) were out a bit late at the Dubliner.  We did win some cool ass hats though from the Jameson Girls.  WoooHooooo…..I love me some free Shwag!  We did a whole “Team Hat” thing…the girls wore the newly acquired Jameson hats, while Bryan and I took on the military hats he brought back from Kuwait.  We looked good.  But how were we going to sail? 3 Hour Cruise….lasted a bit longer!!!

August 2nd, 2009

The plan was to take some of Mandy’s old friends out for a cruise to see if they enjoyed the whole sailing thing. We all met at th club and proceeded to go sailing.  It was Mandy, her old friends and their two boys, their cousins from out of town, and their two kidos…and me.  We had 10 on the boat…I was not sure that many could fit. Saturday Night Race AKA Booooooze Cruise

July 12th, 2009

DSC_0005Last night was a blast…when people say that the best days of owning a boat are “The Day You Buy It & The Day You Sell It”, THEY ARE SMOKING CRACK. We had a FULL boat, I think there was Eight total.  What a blast…we got to the race course just in time to see that there was only one other boat racing with us…Fine, we were going to make the best of it.   We got to the start a couple of minutes late…what is new?  But we got around the bouyes and finished the race half a leg early.  Race over, we came in second out of two boats…not the best race showing.  Who cares! Dallas Race Week, Returning Back Home

June 28th, 2009

dwightDwight was kind enough to help me put Speedster back in her stall…we had wind all the way to Terry Point, we were heading to RCYC when all presence of wind disappeared…SOB I had to get the motor out and motor back to the club.  Mandy was waiting for us to go back out on the water, but since there was no wind, she jumped in the pool.

Wouldn’t you know it, after we got her on the trailer, the lake filled with wind…SOB!

Dallas Race Week, Race 3

June 24th, 2009

Light winds, real light winds, and we are headed towards RCYC.  So Light that Spencer actually asked to get off the boat so he could get home at a reasonable hour.  None of us really thought there would be a race tonight.  Woody called telling me he was on his way and I told him to turn around since there was no wind to speak of. Last weekend we participated in the first Founders Regatta at RCYC celebrating the club’s 40th anniversary.  I was very pleased to see the number of boats involved from all across the lake.  We had racers competing from Chandler’s Landing  Yacht Club as well as BayView Yacht Club.
